At last, it has arrived. Tornado Fury is the official followup to Tornado Glory. Filmed entirely in HD and featuring the most heart-pounding footage ever captured, this film takes storm chasing to the next level. Once again, Ken Cole (along with Jay Galvin and Jes Cole) teamed up with Reed and Joel with the single goal of making the audience feel what it’s like to be 100 yards from a tornado.

Right now the project is on hold because of Reed Timmer and Joel Taylor’s appearance on the upcoming season of Discovery’s Storm Chasers. Or in chasing terms, we’re waiting for the cap to break before the craziness can happen. We’re excited because we know you want this movie, and we’re ready to give it to you.

Do us a favor though - if you want it sooner rather than later - share the trailer on your MySpace page, or your Facebook profile, or just leave a comment on YouTube. You’re all amazing, and we think it’s finally time to give you something beyond what you’ve ever experienced.

We recently had the opportunity to speak with Tornado Glory composer/musician Jay Galvin in an exclusive interview. Jay talks about his experience on the production and writing music for Tornado Glory:

“Each theme introduced the individual person and then, by combining the themes, we were able to introduce them as a storm chasing team. Reed’s theme was more classically composed with an upbeat “city life” feel about it, and it worked well with the images of Reed in the academic setting. Joel’s theme, on the other hand, was more grounded, with folk and country influences, which worked really well with the images of him on the farm. At the same time, the themes were closely related musically, which enable me to illustrate Reed and Joel’s similar tastes in storm chasing when it came time to combine those elements. In the end, the music helped reinforce what the audience would see on screen.”

One year ago today, Reed Timmer, Joel Taylor and I were out shooting material for our next chasing documentary. We encountered one of the most intense tornadoes ever captured on film, closing to within 100 yards. This would soon be known as the famous Ellis County, OK tornado that was featured across Youtube and practically every news network. After that hair-raising experience, we called it a day and started driving to Kansas.

As the evening turned into night, we watched an intense storm on radar as it approached Greensburg. Not long after, we received phone calls from fellow chasers who were chasing that storm and had witnessed firsthand the utter devastation.

A storm chaser is always ready to enjoy the experience of seeing a tornado, but he or she can never anticipate the shock, sadness, and helplessness that comes with observing destruction. That one powerful tornado devastated a town and humbled a whole nation.

I know that the Greensburg event has strengthened the resolve of virutally every chaser on the road. As storm chasers, filmmakers, and weather enthusiasts we have an important mission to spread awareness and continue collecting empirical data to aid in research. As we continue this unending, passionate pursuit of nature’s mysteries, let us always remember May 4th, and the people whose lives were changed forever.
